Our Impact

Success Story
Vikas from a rural village in Jaunpur block of Tehri Garhwal, has three boys with poor vision. They have faced difficulty in being admitted to local schools, and on a day-to-day level, they struggled in dimly lit spaces. They were excluded from normal societal gatherings such as school programs and weddings.
Samvedna started working with the family, and lobbied the school authority regarding their inclusion. After also introducing them to eye care services, all three boys obtained glasses and gained entry to school, where they sit in the front row and have no more difficulty in studying.
Today, the family is very much accepted and a greater part of the community, for which they are extremely thankful, and the boys have begun to dream of what their future might hold.
Samvedna is able to reach children with disability in the surrounding villages, thanks to our team of dedicated community workers. These workers have been trained in identification of disability, therapy and education, and are well placed to empower people with disability and their families.
Our Six Step Strategy For Success
Minimise the impact of disability in the Uttarakhand area through health promotion, prevention, early identification, intervention, and rehabilitation.
Provide an enabling learning environment for children with developmental disabilities.
Encourage the community to be responsive and proactive towards people with disabilities.
Assist people with disabilities to be engaged in productive and gainful employment.
Conduct awareness programs on disability in schools, churches, hospitals, and villages.
Refer people to our main hospital for corrective surgeries, and provide aids and appliances for those who need them.
